The painting is inspired by the book of Ezekiel in the Old Testament: Ezekiel begins his book by narrating his heavenly visions, "In the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, fifth of the month, it happened that being in the midst of the captives by the river Cobar, the heavens opened up for me, and I had divine visions. (Ez. 1, 1). "And I looked, and behold, came from the north a whirlwind of wind, and a great cloud, and a fire that was stirring within the cloud and a glow around her; and at its center, that is, in the midst of the fire, an image of a character as bright as amber. (Ez. 1, 4). "And there was upon the firmament which was above their heads, like a throne of sapphire stone, upon that sort of throne there was the figure as a character. And I saw his appearance as a sort of gleaming electro, and as a fire within him, and round from his waist up; and from the waist down I saw a fire shining around. Which rainbow appears when found in a rainy-day cloud, such was the appearance of the glow that was seen around the throne. (Ez. 1, 26-28). In this account of Ezekiel he describes 4 nobility spirits (angels) he saw and this vision was a likeness of God's glory just as He recounts it at the beginning of the second chapter. My painting expresses all this capturing Ezekiel's vision focused on one of the most noble spirits. Although in Ezekiel's book it does not accurately identify who the 4 noble spirits (Angels) he saw are, it is easy to conclude that all heavenly choirs reflect and transmit the glory of God at all times. The Archangel's position is to always be looking up where the towering throne of God is and in this way to be able to know God's will and execute it at all times and without question and its figure resembles human anatomy but never being equal as they are pure spirits without body of a very high intelligence, absolute lightness, intense clarity and eternal impassiveness.
