Artist Statement:
Perfectly imperfect is what I strive for as an artist. My paintings and drawings come from my love of improvisation. I am interested in the moment of discovery, the combination of colors and shapes working together. I let go and follow the process. Even though my work tends to be abstract, you may also find leaves, flowers, labyrinths, palmettes, mountains, patterns and more.
I love color, its notes, rhythms, minor and major keys. It is the relationships between colors that make music. I hope when you, the viewer, look at my painting you will feel some of the energy and excitement I felt while doing it.
In one series I’ve been working on since 2014, I use the ancient design of the labyrinth as the foundation. The labyrinth is a living design, when traced, it encourages a state of meditation, reflection and self-knowledge.
