Artist Statement:
I like it simple in a complicated way. Growing up as a shy kid, I found that my art took me to a place where there was no pressure from others. Now with years of studying the mid-century painters along with years of painting every day, I have come to realize that each day is a new adventure with my paint, brush and canvas.
My work reflects mid-century abstracts keeping with today’s contemporary feel. No doubt that growing up in the 50's and 60's brings this style of work a natural fit but still nevertheless challenging. Today my work is motivated mostly by bright colors and movement that has developed over the years from realism to modern abstract. Many of my pieces suggest landscape in abstract form to crazy geometrics. While I study many of the mid-century masters, at this point in time I have four that inspires my current work. Maurice Esteve, Richard Diebenkorn, and Georgia O'Keeffe.
