Artist Statement:
Patricia J. Finley is a passionate American painter who has sold her work internationally and has won several awards including most recently First Place in the Littleton, Colorado Museum’s Destination show.
Patricia was a successful lawyer before turning to full-time art, and today focuses on using pigment, paint, and ink mixed into resin to compose intense, lively works. Her landscapes, seascapes, and abstracts burst with color and shine from resin's polish, and there exists a complexity between the apparently simple surface and what lies beneath it: the power of every shape and curve to immerse the viewer in visceral scenes.
Patricia is represented by Walker Fine Art in Denver and Chicago Art Source Gallery in Chicago.
My unique painting method is to create with colored resin; resin into which paint, pigment and ink have been mixed. Resin’s extraordinary possibilities are exactly why I chose the challenge of creating with this unruly medium. Each piece reveals the reason that I chose this medium. Complexity is revealed under the deceptively simple surface with startling clarity. Color leaps out from under resin's cool surface, magnified with a jewel-like intensity. Shapes seem to move.
My art stays alive on the wall, presenting nearly endless possibilities for discovery.

Artistic Influences:
I do truly love Abstract Expressionism. From Pollack to Krasner to my personal favorite, Helen Frankenthaler, I love them all.
