Artist Statement:
I was born and raised in the Soviet Union. It was hard to avoid being influenced by ideology but it affected me in a way opposite as intended. By nature I don’t accept any ideology; that is probably why I paint pictures free of any political, philosophical or ideological implications. But I believe a simple beauty has its meaning. This is what makes us forget, even if it is for just a minute, about challenges and problems of everyday life, it gives a warm feeling to our homes and, therefore, makes our lives a little better.
After graduating from Art School and working in the fashion industry, Art and Art history has never ceased to be my greatest interest, life and all its complexity has never driven me away from it.
Since 2013 I have been living in England. I’ve decided it is time for me to devote my life to painting.
I see the process of painting as a creative lab where I set professional tasks, while the purpose is a creation of an emotionally saturated image where every small detail is important.

Education:
Tiraspol Art School (Moldova)
I was very lucky to have had brilliant tutors. They were not only talented artists but also exceptional teachers. Beside all the skills we needed to become artists they taught us never to stop being curious, always to strive for perfection and never be satisfied.

Artistic Influences:
Albrecht Durer’s masterpiece ‘Great Piece of Turf’ typifies what I love about Art. Though it is just a relatively small and humble watercolour painting and was supposed to be just a study of grasses, it has everything in it; and not just the authenticity of the image and the masterful execution of detail, but the feeling of involvement in something bigger than just this moment and place. You can feel the whole world in it: the connection of time, life, death, happiness and remorse.
