McCain McMurray

My work captures the essence of the natural and constructed world in its most fundamental forms. I work from the memory of a place or object, instilling my feelings and experiences into my paintings. The painting often pulsates with a combination of primary and mixed color of bold line and shape on canvas, paper or joined boards. The result is an ordered or structured composition of clear color and subtle textures, orthogonal forms stripped to their essence. My love for structure and form comes from working as an architect for over 30 years.

My studio is at The Torpedo Factory in Old Town Alexandria Virginia.
