Artist Statement:
Ellen Brook is a painter of vibrant and expressive abstract mixed media and dye on silk paintings. Ellen's passion for color, spontaneous gestures, marks and textiles produces work that has been called 'visual poetry." Ellen's most recent series, "Message in a Bottle," explores the nature of connection to one's self and lineage through time and space using the words, passions and physicality of family letters and postcards.
For Ellen's dye on silk paintings, think 'watercolor on silk'. They are lightweight, stretched over wooden stretcher bars (like canvas) and wall mountable.
Ellen also creates one of a kind fashion that has many of the same qualities of energy, dynamism and movement found in her visual art.
