Artist Statement:
Italian-born, California-based Anyes Galleani is an award-winning visual artist whose work has received international recognition.
A former fashion photographer and video director, Anyes has created art throughout her life using paint, collage, digital manipulation, photo and film montage and has been a full-time artist since 2012.
For many years, Anyes’ studio and art gallery were located in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles and her work consisted of pop art influenced by street art and by her fashion background and urban surroundings. In 2021 Anyes moved to the countryside where she has been inspired to create abstract art. However, her core style has not changed and is still reminiscent of pop & street art, featuring bright colors, paint drips and an unmistakable rawness characteristic of her work.

Education:
Born and raised in Italy, Anyes Galleani came to the US to study film and photography and received a Bachelor of Arts from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco. Shortly after, she moved to Los Angeles where she established her photography studio shooting fashion and later directing fashion videos.
When it came to painting and making mixed media art, Anyes, who had taken drawing classes during high school in Italy, mainly credits her fellow artists in the Los Angeles Downtown Arts District for teaching her about collage and painting. She also drew inspiration from the street artists and muralists working on the buildings across from her studio, which are now part of the Hauser & Wirth Gallery. And, over the years, became particularly fascinated by the look of worn-out street posters and graffiti paint mix, which became a trade mark of her early mixed media art.
Regarding her digital art, while working as a photographer and video director, Anyes learned from a group of early adopters of Adobe Photoshop and digital video pioneers, pushing the envelope on all fronts. This innovative attitude remains a trait of her art making today as she creates high definition images through complex photography manipulation and video frames extrapolations techniques. Anyes has also experimented with AI but, for now, prefers to utilize her own, more organic methods based on creating "accidental combinations" rather than images based on verbal descriptions.
